PROBIOTIC TREATMENT FOR GLUTEN SENSITIVITY
The probiotic Saccharomyces boulardii (SB) was found to have the potential to prevent Gluten Sensitivity in mice. The mice were fed a gluten-free diet followed by a gluten challenge (introduction of gluten). The mice then developed Coeliac-like disease symptoms including inflammation. Oral delivery of SB was administered and symptoms subsided. Selected probiotic treatments play a significant role in disease reversal and should always be considered in any health practitioners treatment plan.
SB has been shown in human Random Control Trials (RCT’s) to be beneficial in the treatment for Amebiasis, Antibiotic Use, Bacterial Gastroenteritis - Clostridium difficile, Blastocystis Infection, Gastrointestinal Candidiasis, Giardia Infection, Small Intestinal Damage, Traveler's diarrhoea and Viral Gastroenteritis. It has also shown promise in open-label trials for the treatment of Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) and Helicobacter pylori Infection.
In clinical practice, the use of SB for gut health has been shown to be extremely effective. From rapidly reducing diarrhoea symptoms to enhancing the effects of other probiotics, SB does not fail to get results. There are various strains available from different practitioner brands, all of which have contributed to great patient outcomes.
